Film

What to Know

I once read somewhere that ‘Cinema is about sensibilities [and] not appearance…’ and try as I might none of my searches have yielded much. I could not tell you who said it and when and in what context, but it’s something that stuck with me. Why?

A.!, as one those very confused souls running around the globe, sees the world through the lens of different media, one of which is film. And just as any portrayal of a medium-perception is subjective, so is mine. Therefore, if you don’t mind perhaps sharing this highly subjective perception whose documentation is aimed at, regardless of what anyone might say, persuasion – here is the place to be.

With my subjectivity comes an unconventional approach to these posts: Some will be simple highlights, others analytical, whilst a few others philosophical.

Bear with me, this is a work in progress and my ambitions regarding it are (simply too) many.

One of those plans is that possibly through our interaction, and hopefully after more concerted research and reading (on my part), I would at some point learn more about cinema. But since I am known to be lazy (once in a while) as: 1) a means of organisation, and 2) a starting point I will divide this into sub-pages, which will cover everything from the list of movies and directors, to a break-down of themes and theoretical genres in filmography, to my most memorable quotes, and much more (non)sense in between.

In time this will, I hope, develop into my own dynamic, evolving personal homage journal dedicated to the analysis of landmark world cinema.

Now isn’t that quite the goal?
